2007-08 DWDE Company Nationals Results

The 2007-08 Competition season is complete and ended with a successful NYCDA Nationals in July in New York. Congratulations to all of our DWDE company dancers, instructors and choreographers! We are extremely proud of all of you, and are amazed at the hard work and long hours that you dedicate to be amongst some of the best in the country!


New York City Dance Alliance Nationals Results

July 2008

Man of LaMancha, Bad, Radar, Saved, Nutbush, In the Closet, and Broadway received Gold awards. Still Here, Answer, Sinking Feeling, All I Need, Hit the Road Jack, Hey, I Can’t Make You, Comfy in Nautica, Smooth Criminal, Your Lips are Red, Across the Universe, Crash, Sings of the Zodiac, Love Shack, and Glamorous Life received Platinum awards which required an average score of 97-100 from each judge, way to go!

 

In addition, our numbers also received the following awards:

-Still Here (Taylor Byrd) - 8th place Senior Solo

-Answer (Brittany Cochran) 5th place Senior Solo

-Bad- Outstanding Tap, Mini Backstage Good Sportsmanship Award

-Radar- 1st place Junior Hip Hop number, Outstanding Concept

-Hit the Road Jack- Outstanding Jazz, Outstanding Showmanship

-Hey- 5th place Senior Group, Outstanding Jazz

-I Can’t Make You- 3rd place Senior Group, 9th place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding Lyrical

-Comfy in Nautica- 1st place Senior Group, 1st place Senior Contemporary number, 4th place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding partnering, Outstanding Contemporary

-Smooth Criminal- 1st place Senior Hip Hop number, 5th place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Hip Hop

-Across the Universe- 2nd place Senior Line, 7th place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding Contemporary

-In the Closet- Outstanding Tap

-Broadway- 3rd place Senior Large Production, Outstanding Tap, Outstanding Costume

-Crash- 2nd place Senior Small Production, 1st place Senior Lyrical number, 6th place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding Lyrical

-Signs of the Zodiac- 1st place Senior Line, tied for 2nd place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding Concept, Outstanding Specialty

-Love Shack- 1st place Extended Line, 11th place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding Jazz, Outstanding Costume

-Glamorous Life- 2nd place Senior Large Production, 1st place Senior Jazz number, tied for 2nd place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding Jazz,

-Your Lips are Red- 1st place Senior Large Production, 1st place Senior Specialty number, 1st place overall Senior numbers, Outstanding Concept, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Costume, selected as senior number to perform at the gala

Congratulations to: Chaunci Hannibal, Andrea Ward, Shannon Womble, Makensie Miller, Dalia Salary, Brittany Cochran, Elle Derwent, Taylor Thistle, Kody Baer, Taylor Byrd, Julie Champagne, Lane Derwent, Collin Heyward, Thomas House, Sydney Jones, Tucker Knox, Sydney Lotuaco, Ali Nance, Raven Rutherford, and Tyler Wall who all won national scholarships and competed for Outstanding Dancer. The opening numbers in which they performed were fantastic, congratulations to all! Additional congratulations to:

-Makensie Miller who won the Junior Outstanding Dancer Spirit award.

-Tucker Knox and Collin Heyward for their top five outstanding dancer soloist score. Tucker Knox for his top five Jazz audition. Brittany Cochran for her top five workshop audition

-Ali Nance and Collin Heyward for their top twelve overall finish

-Tucker was named top four senior male soloist and Brittany was named top three teen female soloist, so they had the privilege to re-perform their solo at the closing night gala

-Tucker Knox who was named national 3rd runner up Senior Outstanding Dancer

-Brittany Cochran who was named national 1st runner up Teen Outstanding Dancer

-Congratulations to Miquela Goode, Jessica Chavis, Kourtney Edwards, Dana Delucie, and Casey Dipersio who won regional scholarships.

-Congratulations to Thomas House and thanks to everyone who voted for his Lanteri commercial. Thomas was the winner of the national commercial contest.
